Product Editor


The product editor provides you with a visual editor to update and change product configuration options and images.

Accessing the Product Editor​


The product editor is not accessible from within the oomph Application Engine’s main interface. To access it:

  1. Find the product you wish to edit in the Shopify admin page
  2. In the More Actions dropdown, click Edit Product
  3. The oomph Product Engine application will load into the Product Editor

Editing Product Options​

  1. Click the option you wish to edit
  2. To add a value to the product’s configuration, check the box next to that value.
  3. To remove a value from the product’s configuration, uncheck the box next to that value.
  4. Click the Save button to update the configuration for that option. This may take a while to complete, as the application will be creating new configurations and removing existing configurations to match your updates.

Note: Do not remove all the values in a product option! This will result in all configurations being disabled. In future updates, the application will prevent this from happening.

Adding Product Options​


This functionality has not yet been implemented. When adding a new product option, existing configurations will no longer exist, since none of them will include the new option. A new SKU upload file will need to be provided, and images associated with the new configurations will need to be provided as well.

Filtering Products​


The variants list has filterable headers which you can use to narrow down the variants list on larger products. These filters can be used across multiple columns. The filters only apply in your current view- disabling options in the dropdowns will not affect the product or its configurations.

  1. Click the header of the product option you wish to edit in the Variants list
  2. In the dropdown that appears, check the boxes for the options you wish to show and uncheck the options which you wish to hide
  3. Click the Apply button at the bottom of the dropdown

Updating SKUs​


SKUs can be updated in three ways:

  1. Through the Variants list in the Product Editor
  2. In the Edit Variant dialog
  3. Via SKU Upload CSV file

Edit SKUs via Variants List Update​


To edit SKUs using the Variants list, update the SKU text field for each variant you would like to update. After your updates on the current page are complete, click the Save button at the bottom of the variants list to store your changes.

Note: Make sure you save after each page- if you move onto another page without saving, your changes will be lost. A future update will address this to prevent your changes from being lost.

Edit SKUs via Edit Variant Dialog​


To edit SKUs in the Edit Variant dialog, click the Edit button on the right side of the variant configuration. In the dialog that appears, update the value in the SKU field and click the Save button. Your variant will be updated with the new SKU.

Edit SKUS via CSV Upload​


To edit SKUs via a CSV file, you will need to prepare a CSV file with columns for the product_id, sku, and each option in the product. Once you have prepared this file, scroll to the bottom of the Product Editor and do the following:

  1. Click the Choose File... button
  2. Select the CSV file with your SKU updates
  3. Click the Upload button. Your SKU update will be processed in the background and may take several minutes to complete.

Managing Images​


The Product Editor will allow you to upload images that will be linked to your products. These images will appear on the Shopify storefront product page when the end-user selects the configuration options for your product so they can see their product in real-time. Images are managed within the Product editor and are specific to the configurations of each product.

Adding New Images​

  1. Open the Product Editor if it is not open already
  2. Find the configuration you want to add images to in the Variants list
  3. Click the Edit button on the right side of the configuration to open the Edit Variant dialog
  4. At the bottom of the Edit Variant dialog, you can drag and drop images from your computer directly into the box labelled “Drag and Drop Images Here”; you can also click this box to open the File Upload dialog
  5. All images uploaded will appear above the upload box
  6. Click Save to store your changes

Rearranging Images​

  1. Open the Product Editor if it is not open already
  2. Find the configuration you want to edit to in the Variants list
  3. Click the Edit button on the right side of the configuration to open the Edit Variant dialog
  4. At the bottom of the Edit Variant dialog, you can drag and drop the attached images to rearrange them
  5. Click Save to store your changes

Removing Images​

  1. Open the Product Editor if it is not open already
  2. Find the configuration you want to edit to in the Variants list
  3. Click the Edit button on the right side of the configuration to open the Edit Variant dialog
  4. At the bottom of the Edit Variant dialog, hover over the image you wish to remove and click the red “X” in the top-right corner of the image
  5. Click Save to store your changes
