Trade & Wholesale Discounting

To automatically discount pricing for a product depending on the customer’s type, you will use product tags.

While tag formats will vary, the prefix will always be the same.

To apply a discount to a wholesale customer, begin the tag with the word wholesale

For designers/architects or trade members, the tags will begin with the word trade

You cannot combine these into one tag- separate tags will be required if a product will be discounted for both groups of users.

For products without variant-level discounts (apply the same discount to any variant added to the cart):

  1. Create the tag with the appropriate prefix and append a hypen
  2. Add the amount of the discount to be applied to the price as a whole number with no decimal places or spaces

An example tag for this scenario would be trade-900 which will apply a $900 discount to any customer who is tagged as Designer/Architect

For products with a variant-level discount (apply only to a specific variant):

  1. Create the tag with the appropriate prefix and append two colons
  2. Add the name of the variant to the tag, such as King or Queen for a bed
  3. Append a hyphen
  4. Add the amount of the discount to be applied to the price as a whole number with no decimal places or spaces

An example tag for this scenario would be trade::King-900 which will apply a $900 discount to any customer who is tagged as Designer/Architect and is purchasing a King size bed.
