Shopify Backup

Data Loss​

Typical Ways Data is lost with Shopify:

  • You or someone else with access to edit your store accidentally deleted a blog post, page, or product
  • Someone with access to your store maliciously deletes important data from your account
  • A 3rd party app you’ve installed into your Shopify store makes unwanted changes
  • You import a CSV file into your Shopify store that contained an error

Unlikely ways data is lost:

  • Flood or Natural disaster at all of Shopify's Datacenters (They use Google Cloud Platform, so this is across multiple regions).
  • Malilocous Shopify Data Admin deciding to bulk delete accounts.

Theme Backups​

  • All theme data is stored on Text Connects Dropbox + Github.
  • The theme is also stored in Shopify's Datacenter and data backup.


Recovery for Themes

  • Reupload theme from Github or Dropbox
  • Average Restore time: 15-20 minutes.

Product / Order / Customer Data​
